City Central, Limerick’s exciting new retail development on Bedford Row, and due to open later this year, is already attracting a mix of national and international fashion houses.
The development, which runs almost the complete length of Bedford Row and into Henry Street, was earmarked as almost exclusively fashion oriented.
According to Gordon Kearney of Rooney Auctioneers, there has been a very positive response both from home and abroad.
"The retailers we are talking to are either seeking a presence in Limerick city centre, or have a requirement for additional space, and the new scheme caters for both”.

The development occupies the extensive landmark former Savoy Cinema site, at the meeting of two of Limerick’s busiest streets, Bedford Row and Henry Street, with the Bedford Row element being a pedestrianised area. It is also located between Brown Thomas and Dunnes Stores, providing a guaranteed footfall.
It is complemented by the four star 100-bedroom Marriott Hotel, being developed by Fordmount Property Group, and scheduled to open next month.
Two multi-storey car parks are located nearby.
In all, there will be 10 retail units each spanning three floors. Unit sizes range from 99 sq m to 373 sq m. and new 25-year lease with five-year rent reviews are available.
Rents are in the region of of euro 1,184 per sq.m on the ground floor, 269 euro per sq m. on the first floor and 215 euro per sq.m at basement level.
Following the recent demolition of the Grand Central Cinema on Bedford Row,
the façade of the old Methodist Church was revealed by the demolition, and is to be restored in the new retail and office building, due to open in September.
The chapel was built in 1821 and converted to a cimema about 1924.
The Bedford Row Church was probably but not certainly designed by brothers James and George Pain.
