Former US first lady Hillary Clinton has been invited to attend the annual Mayors Ball in Limerick.It is hoped that the New York Senator will accept the invitation to appear as the special guest of honour at the gala event.
The Mayor of Limerick,Joe Ledddin, said that his office was trying to identify a guest speaker for the Black-Tie Ball.

As part of that process, it was confirmed that Mrs Clinton was one of several high-profile personalities who had been approached.
The mayors office decided to invite the 2008 Presidential election hopeful following links established during her first visit to Limerick in 1998.
On that occasion her husband Bill addressed a crowd of thousands on O'Connell St and was made a freeman of the city.
