Frank and Ella – A tribute takes place at University Concert Hall is on Thursday November 16. Robert Scott and Barbara Morrison will perform the timeless, classic hits of, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.
Frank Sinatra is the single greatest figure in popular music with 11 Grammys, two Golden Globes, an Oscar and hits in six decades to his name. Ella Fitzgerald, dubbed "The First Lady Of Song”, sold over 40 million albums and won 13 Grammys while performing with all the great names including Count Basie, Nat King Cole, Dizzy Gillespie and, of course, Frank Sinatra.
Frank Sinatra said of Ella Fitzgerald, "The best way to start any musical evening is with this girl. It don’t get any better than this”, and Frank and Ella don’t get any better than Robert Scott and Barbara Morrison.
Barbara Morrison’s rich vocal tones and her natural talent for swing captivate audiences whenever and wherever she performs. She has just made her seventh consecutive appearance at the Edinburgh Jazz Festival and was the opening act for Ray Charles for many years.
It is Robert Scott’s passion and talent for swing that is the key to his success throughout the world, and according to Sinatra biographer Fred Dellar, Robert is "the worlds greatest Sinatra Voice”. He was chosen by Turner Classic Movies to appear and sing at the launch of Oceans 11 at the Café de Paris in London.
