Late Late Live From Limerick

For its fifth out of Dublin presentation, the Late Late Show will be relayed live from Limerick on Friday, November 10.

While no details have yet emerged regarding local representation on the show’s panel of guests, the flagship RTE programme will be presented by host, Pat Kenny in front of a live audience of over 700 people.

The only previous occasion that the show was broadcast outside of Studio 4 of the RTE Donnybrook studios was from New York, to mark the anniversary of the 9/11 atrocities.

As he heard the news Minister of State, Tim O’Malley, has asked those participating in next month’s Show, not to give way to those always eager to present Limerick’s "worst face‚” to the rest of the country.

He said that we can’t allow Limerick to be slandered by those with their own agendas. And added that it was absolutely vital that the presentation of what he described as "Ireland’s most historic and proud city‚ be balanced and fair”.

He said that this is our chance to put personal agendas - political or otherwise - to one side.

"In every sector, Limerick is forging ahead, our cultural excellence is widely recognised; our dance, theatre and literary traditions are the envy of the rest of the country. Our economic and commercial sectors are re-establishing Limerick as the business hub for a huge swathe of the south and west.

"Our media is fantastically vibrant and is as fair and balanced as it is competitive. And Limerick was largely responsible for giving Irish sports one of its finest moments ever earlier this year when the Heineken Cup was brought to the city in glory.

In every respect, Limerick is booming and demonstrating the determination of its people. Limerick has embarked upon a golden age that will see our commercial and social life flourish as traffic is diverted away from the city centre in what is the state’s biggest construction project in years - the Shannon Tunnel.

We’re going to power this city forward. It’s time to show pride in our own place and our own accomplishments,” concluded Minister of State Tim O’Malley.

All tickets for this show can be requested through The Late Late Show at PO Box 1057, Dublin 4 or online at rte.ie/tv/latelate/tickets_form
