Major technology summit means millions for Limerick

MILLIONS of euros in investments are set to be made at a major technology event to take place in Limerick at the start of next yea\r.

The Irish Technology Leadership Group (ITLG) are to bring its Global Technology Leaders Summit to Limerick on January 27 and 28 next.

Speakers at the summit will include high-level executives in Google, Intel and Cisco.

The ITLG is a support network of Irish, or Irish-American business leaders based in the Silicon Valley.

Technology leaders will come from Russia, China, India and across the Americas.

Now in its sixth year, the summit will see leaders from a range of different businesses gather at the Limerick Institute of Technology.

There is an opportunity for small start-up companies to avail of significant sums of funding.

In the six years the ITLG has met as a body some €1m has been handed out to high potential start-up firms.

There will be ‘fast pitch’ sessions for entrepreneurs, businerss start-ups and innovative businesses to pitch for investment.

Other elements of the summit include pitches by 50 local technology firms seeking investment.

These 50 companies will then be shortlisted to 20 finalists with significant investment potential.

The ITLG is chaired by Limerickman John Hartnett, who has lent his name to the LIT Enterprise Accelleration Centre.
