The Give Shannon Wings campaign has failed to take off.
This is the candid admission from one of the founding members, John O’Connor, claiming that people in power have given no support in promoting their cause.
He is frustrated by the inaction of the government in response to efforts to breathe life into Shannon Airport.
O’Connor launched the campaign along with other Ennis businessmen David Woodford and Brian O’Neill, and set up Give Shannon Wings website in September, securing more than 13 000 signatures in support.
Since then, the trio has set up meetings with those who have influence in an attempt to bring business back to the airport.
But Mr. O’Connor admitted that the experience is discouraging.
