Marion Moynihan originally from Kanturk, in North Cork, began writing poetry seriously while living in Kerry where she was a member of Fia Rua writers group in Killarney. She has been widely published in various magazines and the Sunday Tribune. She was included in the anthologies; Cum, Turbulence, The Heart of Kerry and Ropes.
Her poem, Paul Durcan’s Idea of Heaven was read on RTE’s Saturday evening programme, The Enchanted Way. She was also short-listed for the Strokestown Prize in 2000. Marion studied English Literature and Theology at Mary Immaculate College in Limerick, and Psychology and Creative Writing in Thomas Moore College in Kentucky, where she received an award for editing the college literary magazine Words.
In 2002 she completed an MA in Writing at NUIG as well as renovating a cottage in Connemara where she now holds weekend writing workshops. Marion was included in Divas 2, an anthology of Irish women Writers launched at The Cuirt festival.
She was the winner of the County Galway Firewords Award for 2005 and awarded The Publication Assistance Award 2006 by Galway County Council. Marion’s first collection of poetry, The Moon’s Daughter was published recently by Doghouse.
The White House Poetry Revival has being going now for three years. Every Wednesday the famous old world bar is transformed into a centre of culture as poets recite their latest work. Barney Sheehan, the man behind the revival of poetry at the White House, continues to attract the best of Irish and International poetry to Limerick. He sees the involvement of Foras na Gaeilge as a recognition of the work they have put in to making the White House one of the pre eminent venues for poetry in Ireland.
As usual the reading is preceded by an open mic session in which anyone who wishes to read is invited to do so. Complementary finger food is provided and proceeding commence at 9.00 pm.

How To get There
The White House pub is located in the centre of Limerick City at 52 O'Connell Street. Its exact location is on the corner of Glentworth Street and O'Connell Street, opposite the Ulster Bank and the Bank of Ireland. It is approximately 5 minutes walk from the train and bus station - exit the station and go down Davis Street, pass Taits Clock continue on down Glentworth Street and the White House is on the right hand corner at end of street.
