Liz Willows was brought up Welsh in Lancashire, defected to Yorkshire, and is now fostered in Cork, where permanent adoption seems likely. Her first collection of poetry If this is Armageddon – it’s very pretty (Bradshaw Books) was published in 2000, and her work has been also featured in Poetry Ireland Review, Cork Literary Review, Contexts Magazine, and in the anthology Common Thread – Writings by Working Class Women (Pandora, 1988). She was also published in a Microbe edition Recueil Sans Titre Pour Poems Titrés in 2001. She completed an MA in 2004 and is working on several projects including two collections of poetry with working titles of “Dodecahedron”, and “Self-help Notes for Cynics”, she is also a textile artist and takes workshops with groups from age 4 to 80 interested in banner making and associated skills.
She has read at venues all over Ireland and the UK including festivals, arts centres, libraries, bookshops and conferences, pubs, clubs and street performances. Not a competition poet generally she has only ever entered two competitions; she was winner of the Room to Rhyme 1999 poetry competition at Inniskeen.
The White House Poetry Revival has being going now for three years.
Every Wednesday the famous old world bar is transformed into a centre of culture as poets recite their latest work.
Barney Sheehan and Dominic Taylor , the people behind the revival of poetry at the White House, continue to attract the best of Irish and International poetry to Limerick.
The White House Poets would like to acknowledge the involvement of the Arts Council, Poetry Ireland, Foras na Gaeilge, Limerick City Council and the White House Bar for their continued support that has helped make the White House one of the pre eminent venues for poetry in Ireland.
As usual the reading is preceded by an open mic session in which anyone who wishes to read is invited to do so. Complementary finger food is provided and proceeding commence at 9.30 pm

How To get There
The White House pub is located in the centre of Limerick City at 52 O'Connell Street. Its exact location is on the corner of Glentworth Street and O'Connell Street, opposite the Ulster Bank and the Bank of Ireland. It is approximately 5 minutes walk from the train and bus station - exit the station and go down Davis Street, pass Taits Clock continue on down Glentworth Street and the White House is on the right hand corner at end of street.
