White House Poetry Revival Wed 30th May 2007 9: 00pm

Launch of Revival 'Trio' Series.
Poets Noel Harrington, Edward O Dwyer and Gerard Sheehy will read from the collection


Noel Harrington is from Tuamgraney in Co Clare. In his 20s he did the customary living abroad thing (Copenhagen, Munich, New York etc) and has washed more than his fair share of dishes. In his final year studying for a BA at Maynooth, he won the University's top award for literature, the Barbara Hayley Memorial Prize. He is a regular reader at the White House Revival sessions and is currently 53% of the way through finishing his first novel. (writing, not reading). He has no pets, but is thinking about a fish.

Edward O Dwyer is 22 and from Limerick. He’s been writing seriously since June 2006, which incidentally is the time he began going to the White House in Limerick. He holds a first class honours degree in English and Media & Communications (U.L.) and in September begins a H.Dip in secondary school teaching (N.U.I Cork). He has been previousely published in Revival.

Gerard Sheehy was born in Limerick and has lived there for most of his life. He is a regular reader at the White House Poetry Revival nights. Previous work has been published in the Microphone On anthology and Revival.

The White House Poetry Revival has being going now for almost four years.

Every Wednesday the famous old world bar is transformed into a centre of culture as poets recite their latest work.

Barney Sheehan and Dominic Taylor , the people behind the revival of poetry at the White House, continue to attract the best of Irish and International poetry to Limerick.

The White House Poets would like to acknowledge the involvement of the Arts Council, Poetry Ireland, Foras na Gaeilge, Limerick City Council and the White House Bar for their continued support that has helped make the White House one of the pre eminent venues for poetry in Ireland.

The White House pub is located in the centre of Limerick City at 52 O'Connell Street. Its exact location is on the corner of Glentworth Street and O'Connell Street, opposite the Ulster Bank and the Bank of Ireland. It is approximately 5 minutes walk from the train and bus station - exit the station and go down Davis Street, pass Taits Clock continue on down Glentworth Street and the White House is on the right hand corner at end of street.
