Arthur Watson was born in Belfast. He has lived in Clare for 20 years with his wife Judith. He has three children and three grand children. He has worked in theatre and commercial art. He has lived in a commune. He help found ‘Raheenwood School’,The East Clare Community Co-op’, The East Clare Mens Group’ and ‘The Clare Poetry Collective’.
He is a member of ‘Dandelion Puppets’ and manages ‘Heritage Art’. His poetry has been published in ‘New Verse From Ulster’, ‘Soundings’, ‘Crow Hall Poetry’, ‘The Honest Ulsterman’. ‘Clare Market’, Stony Thursday’, ‘Clare Poetry Broadseet’, ‘Calendar Poets’, ‘PEN Poets’.
He has given readings at the University of Ulster, Berlin University, Cow Hall, Cambridge Festival, Ennis Festival, Mountshannon Festival, Cuisle –Limerick City International Festival, Putney Festival, Impact Theatre, Dooradoyle Library, Java, the Furze Bush, Flannerys Bar, Rubens Café, the Belltable Restaurant, The Old Ground Hotel, Tulla Courthouse Arts Centre, Joyces Bar, The Harbour Bar, He has read on RTE, BBC and Clare FM.
He is currently illustrating a selection of his poems for an anthology which will be completed with a CD/DVD in 2008.
Reflections
Wiping the mirror where I shave,
I see suddy reflection,
Evanescent in the vapour of the shower,
Your breasts yield to soft soap,
Hope condenses…
I catch your warning glance
And hope evaporates
The White House Poetry Revival has being going now for three years. Every Wednesday the famous old world bar is transformed into a centre of culture as poets recite their latest work. Barney Sheehan, the man behind the revival of poetry at the White House, continues to attract the best of Irish and International poetry to Limerick. He sees the involvement of Foras na Gaeilge as a recognition of the work they have put in to making the White House one of the pre eminent venues for poetry in Ireland.
As usual the reading is preceded by an open mic session in which anyone who wishes to read is invited to do so. Complementary finger food is provided and proceeding commence at 9.00 pm.

How To get There
The White House pub is located in the centre of Limerick City at 52 O'Connell Street. Its exact location is on the corner of Glentworth Street and O'Connell Street, opposite the Ulster Bank and the Bank of Ireland. It is approximately 5 minutes walk from the train and bus station - exit the station and go down Davis Street, pass Taits Clock continue on down Glentworth Street and the White House is on the right hand corner at end of street.
